This Camera Stabiliser Seems To Defy The Laws Of Physics

This Camera Stabiliser Seems To Defy The Laws Of Physics

Though it may look fake and unreal and impossible and not allowed on Earth, the camera stabiliser in the video is completely real. You can't make it shake. It's like magic decided to defy physics and ignore gravity. All I want to do is park myself in front of a mirror and do as many twists and turns and spins as possible to see if I can get the camera off track. Like this guy.

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Review: Small, Fussy, Beautiful

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera Review: Small, Fussy, Beautiful

The announcement of Blackmagic's $3000 RAW-shooting Cinema Camera in 2012 caused such a stir that not many could have anticipated a followup model, so soon, that was a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the size. The Pocket Cinema Camera continues forging the path of the upstart high-end video camera.

What Is It?

It's a surprisingly small $1000 video camera with a super-16 size sensor (a bit smaller than micro four-thirds). It takes micro four-thirds lenses and shoots ProRes or CinemaDNG RAW footage to SD cards. The basic innards are the same as the original Cinema Camera, just outfitted to squeeze into the 5-inch wide, 12.5 oz magnesium alloy body.

Blackmagic Design 4K Production camera documentary footage from Marco Solorio

Blackmagic Design 4K Production camera documentary footage from Marco Solorio

The 4K Blackmagic Design production camera is some way behind schedule after being announced at NAB earlier this year. The company CEO Grant Petty has said on the company's forum that the delays were down to issues with the sensor that it has taken Blackmagic time to overcome.

Assuming that it finally comes out some time in the New Year it will still be the cheapest 4K Super 35 camera by some margin. For that reason alone it will be of interest to many shooters.

Why I Sold My RED and Downgraded to a C100

Why I Sold My RED and Downgraded to a C100

As 2013 comes to an end, many of us are starting to think about fresh starts and goals for the New Year. For most, 2014 will mean expanding and upgrading gear or even taking a leap of faith. Personally, I've taken a very counter-intuitive leap of faith. I sold the most expensive video asset that I've ever had: My RED Scarlet.
